Hixson to Asheville — 245 miles on I-40 through the Smokies
I’m Trent Holloway. The Asheville run is one of my favorites — east out of Chattanooga on I-75 to I-40, across the TN/NC line, through the Pigeon River Gorge, and into the French Broad valley. About 245 miles.
One Elite Moving truck. One W-2 crew. The gorge can be slow when DOT is doing rockfall work, so we plan an overnight at a secured yard rather than push a tired driver into Asheville traffic.
Why this run is different
- Elevation changes — we load heavy items low and strap twice
- 1-2 day transit, weather-dependent in winter
- Driveways in Asheville and Black Mountain are often steep and tree-lined — we scout the access before the truck commits
If you’ve got a piano or a wood stove headed to a mountain cabin, see our specialty moving page. Comparing other long-distance runs? Try Charlotte or the full routes hub. Or head back to Elite Moving home.
